About Kevin Felderhoff
Kevin Felderhoff’s woodworking journey began in high school shop class in Muenster, Texas, where an inspiring teacher sparked his passion for shaping wood into meaningful forms. His ambitious senior project—building two roll-top desks—ignited what would become a lifelong dedication to craftsmanship.
Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with a focus on Construction Management from Texas State University in San Marcos. After college, he combined technical skill with creativity, designing heirloom-quality furniture from reclaimed barnwood and mesquite. His use of these sustainable, locally sourced materials reflects both his Texas roots and a deep respect for the natural world.
Now based in Brevard, North Carolina, Kevin draws inspiration from the Appalachian forests surrounding his workshop. Known for transforming rough, fallen wood into elegant, one-of-a-kind pieces, he creates works that are as distinctive as they are beautiful. His signature creations include wooden cowboy hats, segmented hardwood footballs, and mesquite pieces inlaid with turquoise—each a testament to his artistry and commitment to tradition.
Kevin holds official licenses from The Ohio State University and Texas A&M University to craft wooden footballs bearing their logos. Each football, meticulously assembled from 239 pieces of hardwood, celebrates school pride and master-level craftsmanship.
As a member of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), Kevin contributes regularly to the AAW Journal, sharing his knowledge through articles such as “A Commemorative Urn – For a Special Friend,” “A Bark-Edged Flying-Wing Vase,” and “Threading Acorns Made Easy.”
In addition to creating fine wood art, Kevin teaches woodturning at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina. Passionate about passing on his skills, he enjoys helping students of all levels discover the joy of working with wood. For Kevin, it’s not just about turning wood—it’s about building community, preserving tradition, and inspiring creativity in others.
